Transporters to go on complete strike across J&K on Jun 4 | KNO

JAMMU, Jun 1 (KNO) : All the transporters of J&K State and vehicle-operators have resolved to go on complete strike on coming Monday i.e. June 4. The decision of one-day strike across the state has been taken by the transporters, where all the vehicular traffic will remain suspended from Lakhanpur to Kashmir.

All the transporters of J&K State Chairman S TS Wazir while addressing the press conference at Press Club Jammu said, “The indefinite strike will be launched if the demands are not met and expressed its displeasure regarding the hike in fuel prices. The state govt has not fulfilled their promise made to them in a meeting held a few months ago. CM Mehbooba Mufti and Chief Secretary assured them of addressing their demands, but nothing has happened. He further alleged that the increased taxes, insurance and fuel prices have disturbed their lives and businesses. “The central and state govt have failed to control the price hikes. Many vehicles have come off the road, He said and added, “We have approached the state government many times to revise the passenger fare, but nothing has been done.

We have also submitted a memorandum on cost of operation to the Deputy CM and Transport Commissioner J&K, but received no help. The prevailing situation has forced them to come out on the roads and protest, while suspending their transport operations,” he maintained and added that the government will be responsible for the inconvenience caused to the public. The representatives of all the commercial transport, vehicle associations/ unions, including buses, trucks, oil tankers, Matadors/mini-buses, taxis, TATA Sumos, Tempo Travelers and Auto rickshaws were also present on the occasion.
